TheCAT PHONES S60 is a very interesting phone, not only because its rugged built to withstand harsh use and fully waterproof, but because it has those features and has an integrated Flir thermal imaging camera.
Flir’s integrated camera features MSX technology, which overlays the thermal images over a photo to enhance the sense of what you are seeing. This means that you will not only see the colors in the image, but also see more of where it was taken. The CAT Phones S60 can also save photos and take and save videos. This is a significant improvement over the FlirC2, which was able to take and store pictures, but not video.
The CAT phones S60 is rugged due to its tough features. It can withstand drops of up to 1.8m thanks to its die-cast frame. This surpasses military specifications. As awaterproof smartphone, it can survive depths of up to 5 meters for 60 minutes using a unique Lockdown Switch. The S60 is capable of taking underwater photos and video. It also features a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 touchscreen that’s glove- and wet finger compatible.
Although it is a very feature-rich phone, it is still far behind the most technologically advanced smartphones today. This is because the average screen size of this phone is 12 cm and has a decent 1280720 resolution. It has a 13mp rear camera and the Flir Thermal Camera. A 5mp front facing camera is available for selfies. It does video but it wont do 4k like high end modern phones, the best you get is 1080p at 30fps. It does come with solid mid-range specs, such as the Snapdragon 617 Octa-core processor with 32GB of memory and 3GB of RAM.
